Near this site on May 21, 2025, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were murdered in an antisemitic attack after leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum.
The couple, due to be engaged, met as staffers at the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC. Sarah was dedicated to peacebuilding, seeking out opportunities for interfaith dialogue. Through her public diplomacy work, she built meaningful partnerships with marginalized communities. Yaron worked for a future in which people from different backgrounds could understand one another beyond headlines and policy debates, fostering cross-cultural understanding in any region torn by conflict.
They wanted to build a life together in a less divided world.
This memorial is dedicated to the legacies of Sarah and Yaron: yehi zichram baruch - may their memories be a blessing. May those who loved the and those who witnessed the darkness of that evening find peace.
