1. Peery Building Marker
Inscription.
This unique building was built in 1919 by Dr. Thomas Peery, a prominent Bluefield optometrist. The building was designed by noted Bluefield architect Alex Mahood. Every office in the building had an outside window, and the biulding has entrances on two streets, each at a different level. Gargoyles cap this striking building. From 1954 until 1977, the buildingg served as the clinic of Bluefield's Sanitarium Hospital.
