Camp Santanoni was built beginning in 1892 for the Robert C. Pruyn family of Albany. The Preserve eventually consisted of 12,900 acres of land and three major clusters of buildings, including: the Gate Lodge, a 200 acre working farm, and the Main Camp on Newcomb Lake, Camp Santanoni is one of the premiere examples of an Adirondack Great Camp and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was acquired by New York State in 1972.
