Lower Plaque
The Nike Surface To Air Missile System defended the United States during the Cold War. The Nike Ajax was deployed in the U.S. in 1954 and was later replaced by the nuclear capable Nike Hercules anti aircraft missile. Battery B, 4th Artillery Battalion, 132d Air Defense Missile Site in Terrell, Texas was part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Air Defense.
