1. The Elevators of Manfred Marker
August 24, 1906, Wells County Free Press news entry
The buyers for the local elevators are busy fixing up and overhauling the houses in anticipation of the rush as soon as the threshing machines start up. There will be an immense amount of grain marketed in Manfred this year and it will tax the railroad company to its utmost to supply cars for transportation.
1. Woodworth Elevator was built in 1907. In 1929, it was purchased by the Riebe Grain Elevator Company and in 1940 was moved by rail to the west side of the O&M Elevator.
2a. Osborne McMillan Elevator (O&M Elevator) was built in the late 1890s.
2b. O&M Elevator built a second elevator in 1907. In 1991, this elevator group of three buildings became the Manfred Grain Company, and in 2010 this elevator complex was demolished.
3. Royal Elevator was built in 1894 as Manfred's first elevator. In 1907, it was purchased by Regan and Lyness; in 1928, purchased by Riebe Grain Elevator Company; and in 1942, it was moved by rail to the east side of Manfred Farmers Elevator. This Royal/Riebe Elevator was later demolished.
