Inscription. This garden was featured in Kevin's television programme 'Sow What' from 1967 to 1988. The programme introduced many to the joys of gardening, charmed by Kevin's cheerful nature and good practical gardening advice.

Kevin brought to his viewers years of horticultural experience firstly from his time at the nursery in Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens and then with Melbourne City Council.

The People's Garden has always had a broad community appeal. Presidents of Montrose Rotary Club have each planted rhododendrons here since 1979, local primary school children have planted local native plants and the garden was the focus of television viewers for 21 years.

It was fitting for Kevin and Jill to donate it to the people of Victoria as the People's Garden in 2006.
