Inscription.
Benedict William Hall, owner of Eutaw Manor, died unexpectedly in 1843 and left the land in legal limbo. After a long court case among his heirs, the property was split between Hall's children. His daughter Sidney and her husband J. Morrison Harris built a stately mansion called Ivy Hill. William Hall Harris, Hall's grandson, inherited the property in 1900 and sold Ivy Hill to Baltimore City in 1908 after being appointed as Baltimore Postmaster by Teddy Roosevelt. Upon the sale, both the Ivy Hill estate and the rest of the former Eutaw farm were converted into Herrin Run Park.
