1. York County Gaol Marker

York County Gaol
Completed in 1842, the York County Gaol served as a jail until 1996. Constructed by builder Andrew Blair of granite quarried near Hampstead, this Georgian style, functional building with its restrained simplicity and symmetry is attributed to local architect Thomas Smith.
