1. The Famous MA & PA Marker

Inscription. The MA and PA Railroad passed this area to and from a station stop in Bel Air. On weekends during the summer, one of the riders was Dr. Howard Kelly a gynecologist, who was one of "the four," who founded Johns Hopkins Hospital. His Liriodendron summer home was a short distance east of the MA and PA Rail Line, and on Friday evenings the train would make an unscheduled stop and allow him to depart and walk to his home. The following Monday morning he would board the train heading back to Baltimore.
