Inscription. Discovered during the excavations of Fort Sumter, these rifled guns were installed by Federal troops during the 1870's modernization program.

One of eleven on display at Fort Sumter. These guns are mounted on iron seacoast carriages, in contrast to the wooden carriages used on pre-war cannon also on display at Fort Sumter.
