Meet Jim Buchy. . , Citizen, businessman, public servant, a true supporter of the community and its individuals., The values of faith, family, and freedom have guided this gentleman through the years. A devout Lutheran with music as an inherent part of his life, Jim has been a stalwart patron of the arts and parks locally and statewide. He rose from working on the floor of the Chas. G. Buchy Packing Co. to stewarding the company as CEO for 35 years through its expansion and transition. Later, he served as the Midwest Regional Policy Director for the National Federation of Independent Business., Economics led Jim into politics. He worked to get Ronald Reagan elected governor of California during a period of fiscal instability and then president of the United States, accepted appointment to the Greenville School Board in a time of financial crisis, and represented 125,000 people in the Ohio House of Representatives for 12 terms. Known to get things done, Jim was well respected on both sides of the aisle. He sponsored 45 bills and co-sponsored 1255 bills mostly on agriculture while being present for all 4251 roll-call votes in the House. Desiring to serve beyond term limits, Jim continued in the Ohio Department of Agriculture for 3½ years. Thereafter, this “Dean of Agriculture” collaboratively established the Agriculture Education Foundation successfully pairing inner-city youth and 4H/FFA farm-to-table values.
