1. Sun in the Center Marker
In the center of the fresco that decorates the ceiling of Mac-A-Cheek's drawing room, a painted Sunflower once suspended a chandelier. Victorians often placed tall plants like Sunflowers in the center of their gardens for visual effect. Sunflowers are phototropic, meaning they follow the sun. Their name is derived from Helios, the Greek sun god. Archaeologists believe the plant was cultivated thousands of years ago by Indigenous People to produce food, dyes, paints, and medicines. In the 19th Century "Flower Language," sunflowers suggested great riches.
