1. Generator/Fog Signal Building Marker

Inscription.
When the first fog signal building proved inadequate, the electric fog signaling equipment was moved into this structure, built around 1950. The building contained an automatic fog detector that activated the fog horn when visibility dropped below three nautical miles. The fog horn was discontinued in 2002. Also housed here is a radio transmitter, operated on summer weekends by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to ensure boating safety.
