2. Brahim Bouraam Marker
Bouraam—a Moroccan national—was pushed into the Seine by a 19-year-old neo-Nazi skinhead demonstrator on the sidelines of the National Front's annual Joan of Arc parade. The river was in flood and the current was quite strong; unable to swim, he drowned. He was 29 years old and a father of two. The attack was motivated by racism and homophobia. It took place at a spot along the Seine quays known as a cruising area for gay men, and one of the activists, before heading there, shouted "AIDS threats" at passersby.
