1. Le Pole Square Marker

Inscription. It was long suspected that the grounds you stand on had great archaeological potential, but the unearthing of Le Pole Square proved it to be one of the most significant undertakings in Dublin, uncovering the largest assemblage of Viking and medieval finds, dating back to the 9th century.

The site of the early-medieval Church of Saint Michael Le Pole lies on the high ground immediately south of the site, once overlooking the tidal pool in the River Poddle; a tributary of the River Liffey, that ran from Dublin Castle.
