Settles Bridge
The Terry family operated a ferry here. It was replaced by an iron truss bridge built in the 1880s. That bridge in turn, became obsolete after the construction of a modern highway bridge in the 1950s. Because of the large number of Settle family members in the area, it was their name that was associated with the crossing.
This slow-moving section of the river is a good place to begin a river float. A short path through a wooded area leads directly to a canoe launch. A wooden boardwalk with stairs provides an easier route to this scenic section of the river.
