De Josephlaan verwijst naar de Rooms Katholieke parochiekerk van de Heilige Joseph die tot 1974 aan de West-Kruiskade stond. Joseph was de vader van Jezus en timmerman van beroep.

(Josephlaan (“Joseph Lane”) is named after the Roman Catholic parish church of Saint Joseph, which stood on West-Kruiskade until 1974. Joseph was the father of Jesus and a carpenter by trade.)
