1. Jicarilla Apache Centennial Highway Marker
Inscription. The Jicarilla Apaches, a Southern Athabascan people, migrated to the Southwest from Northwest Canada. The Jicarilla Apache preservation homeland extend from Southeastern Colorado, through northeastern New Mexico, to the Texas/Oklahoma panhandle. The Jicarilla Apache were named by the Spanish for the red baskets they wove. They are composed of two clans the Llanero (plains) and the Ollero (mountain).
