1. The Trans Canada Trail on Price Edward Island Marker
In 1992, the bold dream of a national Trail linking Canadians from coast to coast to coast was launched on Prince Edward Island.
This plaque, proudly unveiled by the Honourable Robert Ghiz, Premier of Prince Edward Island; Mrs. Laureen Harper, Honorary TCT Campaign Chair; Mr. Paul LaBarge, TCT Chair; Mrs. Valerie Pringle, TCT Foundataion Co-Chair, Ms. Catherine Schaap, Island Trails President and His Worship Clifford Lee, Mayor of Charlottetown on September 12, 2014, marks the completion of the Island's 444-kilometre section of the Trans Canada Trail.
PEI is the second Canadian province to connect its portion of the Trail.
By 2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Trans Canada Trail will be the world's longest and grandest recreational trail-a lasting gift from Canadians to Canadians, connecting us to our history, our land, and to another for generations to come.

The Trans Canada Trail is a cross-Canada system of greenways, waterways, and roadways that stretches from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Arctic oceans. The trail extends over 28,000 km (17,000 mi); it is the longest recreational, multi-use trail network in the world. The idea for the trail began in 1992, shortly after the Canada 125 celebrations.
