Inscription.
Established on December 23, 1856, Taylor County honors Zachary Taylor, the 12th U.S. President and celebrated General during the Second Seminole War. His leadership throughout Florida during the Second Seminole War made settlement in the young state possible. Naming the county after him acknowledged his pivotal role in U.S. and Florida history, cementing his legacy in the region's military and civic roots.
