Conservation:
Any threats are primarily human-caused habitat alteration - forestry and agricultural practices have caused massive destruction in the boreal forests of southern Canada.
While the IUCN lists moose as Least Concern on a national and international level, regions like Nova Scotia, Minnesota and others have noticed significant drops in numbers and are now considered locally endangered.
Range:
Canada and northern US; eastern Russia into northern Mongolia and northern China
Habitat:
Fairly adaptable but requires forest for cover and food and water bodies for foraging as well
Marshes, rivers, ponds, lakes, snow in the winter.
Vegetated cover and waterways.
River valleys and conifer forests.
Leaves, twigs and bark of willow, birch aspen, maples, and other tree species. June through July, aquatic vegetation.
