1. Little Elm Cemetery Marker

Inscription.
Established on a 1 acre plot near Cottonwood Creek donated by Joel S. Clark. It appears that a headstone engraved “A.S. 1808-1862” marks the first burial. Volunteers organized in 1903 by Mrs. Wm. Robertson and led by their Pres. Mrs. Ella Hawkins kept the grounds until early 1930s when a committee chaired by Elzy D. Hart was appointed. In the early 1950s the construction of Garza-Little Elm Lake forced relocation of 800 of the 1200 graves to higher ground. The Sublette, Grace-Smith, King, Harpers, McCurley, Ball, Mexican, Erwin and Dudley Cemeteries were also relocated here.
