In the same year Facebook launched…
…the Baltimore Zoo became the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. The name change better reflected the Zoo's statewide reach and broader funding support.

One part of Baltimore's Department of Recreation and Parks, the Zoo today is run by a not-for-profit organization. To advance our mission to engage people in the conservation of wildlife and wild places, we receive support from state and local governments, as well as generous foundation and sponsorship support. And of course we rely heavily on the support of Members and guests like you!
