Inscription.
This implement prepares soil for planting. It is pulled by horses and its concave ‘double-disc’ plowshares are set at wide angles to the direction of progress. The two discs work quicker than one. The discs cut and hold the soil-lifting it up to create a furrow while burying vegetation. This plow was found on the Rasor Farm. John H. Rasor 1849—1925 lived ½ mile west of Allen and was a farmer and cattleman. He purchased the ‘headright’ of Senator James R. Gough and thereafter expanded his farming acreage to some 4000 acres. Rasor Farms extended between Hedgcoxe Rd and current day Sam Rayburn Tollway and from Preston Rd to Alma Rd. Descendants still farm today. He was a supporter of FFA.
