1. Yeoman Tool Shed Marker

Inscription.
This pine log building was once located along U.S. Highway 84. When construction required that it either be moved or destroyed in 1987, the Historical Society moved the building to this property as an example of a typical 19th century tool shed. Structures such as this housed a variety of agricultural and industrial implements. Inside you will see several plows, rakes, and saws. With lumber, farming, and animal husbandry being the main sources of revenue in Southwest Georgia since the 1820s, buildings such as this were necessary to keep the tools of the trades safe and secure. Many of these tools were used with drawn animals while others were designed for individual use. The exterior bell, front porch, and roof located on the right side of the building were added after its move to this property. The dirt floor is historically accurate as well since these types of buildings would not have warranted having a raised floor — especially as animals may have been kept inside.
