1. Tiefbunker / Underground Bunker Marker

Erbaut 1941 als Luftschutzbunker während des Zweiten Weltkrieges. 1946–1961 Wohnraum für ausgebombte Stuttgarter, Flüchtlinge und erste Gastarbeiter. Aufgrund der atomaren Bedrohung im Kalten Krieg wurde der Bunker 1971–1974 für einen Langzeitaufenthalt tauglich gemacht. Sitzmöglichkeiten und Schlafkabinen für 1172 Personen auf 1.890 qm, drei Schleuseneingänge, Einbau von Lüftung, Generator und Wasserversorgung. Ein noch heute für den Krisenfall bereitstehender Bunker in Stuttgart.

(English Translation)
The underground air-raid shelter was built in 1941 during the Second World War. From 1946 to 1961, it provided housing for Stuttgart residents whose homes had been destroyed by bombing, as well as refugees and some of the first guest workers. Because of the nuclear threat during the Cold War, the bunker was converted for long-term stays between 1971 and 1974. Its 1,890-square-meter interior provided seating and sleeping cabins for 1,172 people. It also had three airlock entrances, ventilation, a generator and a water supply. The bunker remains available for use during a crisis.
