1. Hochbunker / Above-Ground Air-Raid Bunker Marker

Errichtet 1939/40 als Luftschutzbunker während des Zweiten Weltkrieges durch Firma Wayss und Freytag nach Plänen des Konstrukteurs Leo Winkel. Eisenbeton, Höhe 21 Meter, Fassungsvermögen 305 Personen auf 9 oberirdischen Etagen. Die spitze Form sollte Fliegerbomben ablenken. Denkmalgeschützter Bau. Dieser letzte von ehemals vier Winkeltürmen in Stuttgart war zugleich der einzige in Deutschland, der noch im Kalten Krieg als Schutzraum diente. Eine Ausstellung im Turm informiert über den Luftschutz von 1933–1945.

This air-raid bunker was built in 1939–40 during the Second World War by the Wayss und Freytag company, following plans by engineer Leo Winkel. Made of reinforced concrete, it is 21 meters tall and could accommodate 305 people on nine above-ground floors. Its pointed shape was designed to deflect aerial bombs. The building is a protected historic monument. It is the last of the four Winkel towers that once stood in Stuttgart and was also the only one in Germany that continued to serve as a shelter during the Cold War.
