This stone, a relic of the old Portage Railroad marks the grave of
George Lucas
a soldier of the Revolutionary War

Erected 1916 by The Quemahoning Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.

Regarding George Lucas. Lucas, born February 19, 1750 in Dublin, Ireland, fought in at least six battles during the Revolutionary War. He died at age 90, January 18, 1841 in Johnstown, PA. He was buried at the Union Cemetery in Johnstown, which was destroyed by the
