1. De Mesa-Sánchez House Marker

Inscription. The De Mesa-Sanchez House exhibits a continuum of St. Augustine's architectural history and incorporates two First Spanish Period houses (1565-1763), Archaeological data indicated that the first stage of the house dated from after 1720, but before 1740. The residence was expanded during the British (1763-1784), Second Spanish (1784- 1821), and American Territorial (1821-1845) periods. The building was renovated in 1958 as a house museum to be interpreted as an inn located in northern Spain. The State of Florida restored the building in 1979 to its appearance of 150 years earlier, during Florida's American Territorial Period.
