St. Robert in Pulaski County, Missouri — The American Midwest (Upper Plains)
D & G Package Store
D & G Package Store is a liquor store that was first opened by Herman and Jodie Paulette. They also owned and ran Jodie's Café, which was a separate building located to the left of the liquor store. The original D & G sign was a part of the building. In the past, Jodie's Café advertised a bar with "Elbow Room."
This location was also the first City Hall of St. Robert. In 1973, Harvey and Esther Gottowski purchased the D & G Package Store after Harvey retired from the United States Army. After Harvey's passing in 2002, Esther continued to operate the liquor store until 2009. The Gottowski estate sold the sign to Greg and Jolanta Chmura, who restored and moved the sign from its original location at 645 Historic Route 66, St. Robert, MO, to St. Robert Boulevard in 2015. The initial restoration work was done by Signs In Time, St. Robert.
The Chmuras later sold their business, One Stop, on Dec. 16, 2018, and donated the sign to the Route 66 Neon Park.
