Tabor in Bon Homme County, South Dakota — The American Midwest (Upper Plains)
St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church
Built in 1899, this church replaced a 25-year-old chalk rock church. The bricks were hauled by horse and wagon from Lesterville, the closest railroad. Construction of this church, a second parish house in 1910, and the first Catholic school in 1903, was credited to Msgr. Emanual A. Bouska, who served St. Wenceslaus parish from 1893 to 1940. The current school, built in 1960, is used as a public school.
The cemetery was started before the streets were platted in 1872, resulting in a jog in the street.
