1. Civil War | Honey Locust Marker
Though this is a thorn-less variety, the sharp, long, red-brown thorns of the honey locust were used by Civil War soldiers to pin together their tattered uniforms. The honey locust has a soft, open canopy that turns golden yellow in the fall.
