Medieval Jews lived in England at the permission of the king. The Tower of London was used to protect as well as exploit the medieval Jewish community.
During the Second Barons’ War many of London’s Jews sought safety in the Tower of London fearing anti-Jewish violence. In 1267, they were assigned a portion of the walls to defend.
