1. Marvin and Alice Humpal Marker
Inscription.

Following his U.S. Navy service during WWII, Marvin was a member of The American Legion for over 70 years and Alice was active in The American Legion Auxiliary. As patriotic, inspirational educators, they encouraged citizenship as students learned respect for the flag by standing at attention while reciting "The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag" and singing "The Star-Spangled Banner". They taught proper care and meticulous folding of the American flag. Their lessons incorporated the gifts of kindness, fairness and service, while reminding us of the responsibilities with which we have been entrusted. We celebrate the profound impact of positive-example leadership. Their goal was to help students achieve self-discipline and become positive contributors to society. We honor their shared love of the American flag and the United States for which it stands.
