The Wharfinger’s Cottage
Discover the Fortress story
You are on a man-made wharf, once a military dockside bustling with Ordnance Office workers.
A ‘Wharfinger’ or harbourmaster lived in a house here for 200 years. He ran the dock and oversaw the cranes used to load ships.
Weapons, gunpowder and military supplies were shipped from here across the world until the late 1800s.
pracowali robotnicy i marynarze, ładując i rozładowując zaopatrzenie wojskowe ze statków.
Przez stulecia zakłady broni i domy dla platnerzy i urzędników Tower stały wzdłuż nabrzeża.
Dzisiaj wiele historycznych dział można podziwiać na wystawie w Tower.
