Museum Celebrates All Things Anne
Author Lucy Maud Montgomery describes farmhouse as the "wonder castle of my childhood."
Montgomery was born at her family home in New London and was raised by her grandparents in Cavendish. But it was the house in Park Corner, owned by her aunt and uncle, that she loved most of all. Today known as the Anne of Green Gables Museum, the house is just a five-minute drive from here. It is popular with fans of Anne as well as other Montgomery characters. Many couples from around the world tie the knot in front of the fireplace in the parlour, as the author herself did in 1911. Visitors can meander through the museum, go on a carriage ride, and take in the splendour of the Lake of Shining Waters.
