Robert Bosch in Feuerbach
Robert Bosch in Feuerbach
Robert Bosch GmbH, now represented throughout the world, was founded in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch (1861–1942) as the “Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering.” In 1902, Bosch introduced the high-voltage magneto ignition system with a spark plug. It established the worldwide standard for reliable and safe motor-vehicle ignition and successfully prevailed over its competitors.
In 1909, Bosch purchased land in Feuerbach to build a factory because the available sites in central Stuttgart were too small and offered no room for expansion. In Feuerbach, he found sufficient industrial land and gradually expanded his production facility, which now covers approximately 5.5 hectares. Today, the Bosch plant in Feuerbach is the company’s largest and oldest production facility. Robert Bosch was made an honorary citizen of Feuerbach and Stuttgart in 1917.
The Robert Bosch figure was donated by Robert Bosch GmbH.
