Inscription. Established in 1818 and was split off the north end of Wayne County with Winchester made the County Seat. 1820 - 1825 the County included all Territory North to the Michigan Line. Until 1836, included Territory North to Allen County. The 1875 Courthouse is the Third following an 1819 Log structure and an 1826 small brick courthouse.

Location. 40° 10.344′ N, 84° 58.891′ W. Marker is in Winchester, Indiana, in Randolph County. Marker is at the intersection of West Washington Street (a.k.a. St. Rd. 32) and South Main Street, on the right when traveling east on West Washington Street (a.k.a. St. Rd. 32). The marker is on the North/East lawn of the Randolph County courthouse lawn in Winchester, Indiana. It faces the side-walk - and is on the North side of the Civil War Memorial. Touch for map.
