Inscription. The design concept was completed in January of 2023 by Village of Mount Prospect Public Works personnel. The installation was completed in November of 2023. The goal of the project was to incorporate updated hardscape surfaces with a large area dedicated to sustainable landscape plantings. The selected plant species require minimal annual maintenance, can sustain drought conditions, are not invasive, and require no additional fertilizers. The native perennials, native cultivars, and perennial cultivars used were selected for their aesthetics and also their ability to attract pollinating insects and birds. The woody shrubs, ornamental trees, and native grasses can also provide areas of refuge for local wild life.
