Reading clockwise the markings are "S. McM & Co. * 1865 * 8480 lbs * 24 S.C.L." This cannon was cast by Seyfert, McManus & Co. of Reading, Pennsylvania in 1865. It weighed 8,480 pounds when inspected by Stephen C. Lyford that year.
