Regarding Georgetown Area Honor Roll. (Courtesy: Danville, Illinois - “Commercial News” - Aug. 8, 2010. The following review.):: In 2006 the “Georgetown Planning Commission” and the “All Other Wars Memorial Steering Committee” began the first steps to honor all Georgetown Area veterans that have served in all wars. On (Saturday) August 14, 2010 (at 11 A.M.) a dedication was held at the enlarged Georgetown Area War Memorial site.

Four stone memorials were placed next to the original ‘World War II’ memorial. The expanded “Georgetown Area War Memorial” now commemorates area soldiers whom have served in the: Civil War - - W.W. I - - W.W. II - - Korea - - and - - Vietnam wars.

In the future, Georgetown area men and women serving in the Iraqi and Afghanistan conflicts also will be honored in the memorial area.

A special thank you was given to the ‘Citizens of the Georgetown Area’ for their thoughtful help with this successful project in honoring the area veterans.
