1. Asbury United Methodist Church Marker
Inscription. The original sanctuary was built in 1829 on 1/2 acre of land purchased on September 12 for $50 from Sarah Stewart and Andrew Anderson. That building, constructed from lumber from trees cut from the lot, was moved to another location when the present building was constructed in 1848 by local carpenter Caleb Twilley. The steeple was added 1884, built by Benjamin F. Messick and Peter A. Malone. The church was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in September, 1999. The cemetery is among the oldes in Wicomico County, in continuous use since the early 19th century.
