Statue is cast zinc coated with custom-made "bronze" paint. It stands about seven feet tall on a 40 inch tall granite base. The Fireman is dressed in a fireman's uniform of the late 1800s.

Because they were cast in many pieces, zinc statues allowed for minor customization. "Trenton V.F.D," for example, identifies the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department on the helmet of this statue.
