Army of the Tennessee.

This regiment formed here at 10 a.m. April 6, 1862 with two companies beyond Locust Grove Creek as skirmishers. The regiment was attacked by Chalmers' brigade and at 11 a.m. fell back 600 yards.

Location. 35° 7.4′ N, 88° 19.2′ W. Marker is near Shiloh, Tennessee, in Hardin County. Marker can be reached from Hamburg-Savannah Road (Bowden Lane), half a mile south of Hamburg-Purdy Road, on the left when traveling south. This is outside the main park area, in a small island of park land. It is most easily reached by taking an unpaved driveway on the left side of the road. The turnoff is about .4 miles southeast of Hamburg-Purdy road. The marker is behind a hedge on the right side of the driveway. Touch for map.
