1. Elijah Heath Marker
Inscription. Outspoken abolitionist and judge, in 1835 Heath and others rescued two fugitive slaves, Charles Brown and William Parker. Heath, a Brookville resident, was sued by a Virginia slaveholder and fined for his actions. Undeterred, Heath continued his Underground Railroad activities.
 
Erected 2005 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Journeys, an exhibit at the Jefferson County History Center, Brookville, PA, depicts the journeys of people of color to and through Jefferson County 1801-present.The exhibit includes a miniature of Judge Heath's home as it originally appeared in 1834 when he aided and abetted the escape of the two fugitive slaves. Open Wed-Sat, Noon to 5pm.
