This Brigade became engaged here about 12.30 p.m. April 6, 1862 under the personal direction of General Johnston. It advanced to position east of Bloody Pond where it was again engaged.

3. 6-pdr Field Gun Model 1841
This particular piece, registry number 125 from Cyrus Alger & Co, of Boston, Massachusetts, was cast in 1855. It weighed 880 pounds when inspected by Benjamin Huger. In a twist of fate Huger, who was in 1855 a U.S. Army Ordnance officer, resigned his commission in 1861 to join the Confederate Army.

4. 3.80-inch James Rifle, Type 2, Series 4
Markings indicate this piece is registry number 78, cast in 1862 by Ames Manufacturing of Massachusetts. It was inspected by George T. Balch. And the gun weighed 919 pounds. Note the 10 groove rifling and the blade sight at the top.
