Metamora in Franklin County, Indiana — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Metamora Masonic Lodge
This stone building, constructed in the 1840's, was owned and used by a number of families prominent in early history of Metamora. These included Martindale, Watkins, Allison and Wiley. The ground floor was a general merchandising establishment, best known under the name of L. Allison & Son. Second story first housed the Sons of Temperance, who held title as the Temperance Hall Association. The Metamora Lodge #156 F. & A.M. acquired the hall in 1888. This is believed to be the only lodge in Indiana with most of its original cobalt blue window panes still intact.
