1. U.S. Grant Historic District Marker
Inscription. U.S. Grant and U.S. Grant Comme[mo]rative Sites Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places 6 August 1998.

The historic district includes:
President U.S. Grant Birthplace-1820-1821
Grant Birthplace Memorial Park-1925-1928
Grant Memorial Bridge-1925-1927
Lee Thompson Caretakers House-1820
Caretakers Garage-1936

WPA constructed limestone retaining walls, stone steps leading to the confluence of Indian Creek and Ohio River, and stone flagging-1937.

The return of the Grant birthplace to Pt. Pleasant was spearheaded by Judge Hugh L. Nichols from 1922-1936.
