Inscription. The Plantation of Nasheway embracing this and several adjoining towns was granted to a group of "Undertakers" in search of iron deposits, in 1644. John Prescott the first settler made a success of frontier farming under great difficulties.

Erected 1930 by Massachusetts Bay Colony-Tercentenary Commission.
