Inscription. On this site stood the Catedral de San Agustin, the first church near the Tucson Presidio, Arizona Territory. The adobe and stone structure was built under the direction of Bishop Salpointe in 1883.

5. Saint Augustine Cathedral

This Cathedral, at 192 South Stone Avenue, was originally built in 1897 to replace the Cathedral at Congress St. and Church Ave. With the exception of the façade and towers, the Cathedral was demolished and rebuilt in the late 1960s.
